UNPACK

Premium by Design. Sustainable by Intent.

Where Material Technology, Design & Innovation Come Together to Build the Pack Your Product Deserves.

"The brands winning on shelf aren't choosing between premium and sustainable. They've stopped seeing them as a trade-off."

Most packaging briefs start in the wrong place. They begin with cost. Or compliance. Or a recycling target someone handed down from marketing. And the result is a pack that ticks boxes but doesn't sell the product — one that feels like a compromise before it even hits the shelf.

The conversation needs to start somewhere else entirely: with material technology, with design intent, and with a clear understanding of what great packaging can actually do for a brand in 2026.

Because sustainability isn't a material choice you make at the end of a brief. It's the outcome of getting design and innovation right from the beginning. And when you get that right, you don't sacrifice premiumness. You unlock it.

UNPACK is a 2-hour hands-on working session that puts that thinking into practice. Six blocks. Real materials in your hands. Real products on your table. Real benchmarks that push you to build packs that don't just meet a standard — they set one.

Six blocks. Two hours. Zero filler.

01

The Provocation

Reframe

The session opens with one statement that dismantles the biggest assumption in packaging today. Not a slide. Not a statistic. Just the line — and what it means for every brief you'll write after this.

02

Myth Busting

Debate

Five of the most dangerous beliefs in packaging — rapidly taken apart. Paper vs plastic. Weight and premiumness. Bio-based vs biodegradable. Recycling symbols. Consumer willingness to pay. Show of hands, expert reveals, no hand-holding.

03

Touch & See

Touch

A physical material kit lands on every table before the first slide. rPET. Ocean-captured plastic. PCR formats. Monomaterial structures. Lightweighted bottles. Paper-based and fibre formats. Refill and reuse systems. You handle each one. You feel the difference. You find out which ones you were wrong about — and why material technology has made the trade-off argument obsolete.

This is the part of the session people talk about afterwards.

04

Grade Your Pack ★

Act

Five everyday products on every table — shampoo bottle, snack wrapper, coffee cup lid, detergent pouch, supplement jar. Grade each one for recyclability, shelf appeal, and premium perception. Then the table debates. Then the reveal.

Almost everyone gets two or more wrong — including the ones they were most confident about.

05

The Design × Compliance Matrix

Act

Four global packaging standards. Four compliance deadlines. One design implication each. Not a policy briefing — a design challenge. For each regulation, you answer: what would a pack that meets this standard and elevates the brand actually look like?

06

Build for the Brief

Debate

Open floor. One brief. No structure. If you were launching a new FMCG product tomorrow — what pack would you build? What material? What format? What does it say about the brand before the consumer even opens it? Experts don't just facilitate this one. They build alongside you.

A scoring card with real grades — for the products on the table and the thinking you walked in with.

A compliance reference card with 4 regulations, 4 dates, and 1 design implication each.

A framework for writing briefs that start with design intent — and end with packs that are premium, sustainable, and commercially winning.

A much clearer answer to the question that actually matters: not "does my pack comply" — but "does my pack do justice to the product inside it?"
